For over 25 years I have researched and written about hotels and the wider context in which they developed, including the growth of railways, steamships and early air travel, and the social and cultural changes that shaped modern hospitality.
My work is based on original research, drawing on archival material and contemporary sources to reassess widely accepted accounts.
Alongside this research, I write for London-based luxury publications, have contributed to television documentaries, and lead guided walks exploring the history and hidden stories of the capital’s grand hotels.
This site brings together my work on individual hotels as well as articles on the broader history of travel and luxury culture that shaped them.
